Meet Our Doctors and Staff

‎‎Dr. Jeffrey Taylor - Veterinarian/Owner

Dr. Taylor founded the FAN VET neighborhood practice with the motto: “Walk Your Pet to the Vet” in 1981. Born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, he spent his youth living on several Navy Bases around the world. Dr. Taylor graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science. Prior to attending the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine, he worked as a research assistant in experimental surgery at St. Louis University Hospital and School of Medicine. Dr. Taylor is an avid mineral and antique collector. On vacations, you will find him digging for minerals with his faithful companion Hooper, a Doberman Pinscher, or searching for rare antiques with his wife, Jody.

Dr. Chelsea Mason - Veterinarian

Dr. Mason is a native Virginian , born and raised in Yorktown, VA. She had a passion for animals from the beginning and decided at the age of 8 that she would become a veterinarian. She obtained her B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia in 2010 and her D.V.M from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. Her medical interests include nutrition, internal medicine, cardiology, and ultrasound. In her spare time, Dr. Mason enjoys doing any and all outdoor activities, especially hiking, kayaking, swimming, and running. She also loves to visit local vineyards, farmer’s markets, and festivals; and is a big fan of the Richmond restaurant scene.

Dr. Aunie Debnath - Veterinarian

Dr. Aunie Debnath was born and raised in southeastern Virginia andmoved to Richmond to complete her undergraduate degree at Virginia Commonwealth University.  During her time at VCU, she worked at the Fan Veterinary clinic as an assistant, which helped to reinforce her aspiration to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.  She earned her DVM from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2014, and returned to Virginia to practice.  Dr. Debnath has a special interest in Fear Free practice and handling, soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.  She currently lives in Richmond with her husband and two cats and enjoys yoga, knitting and hiking.  

Chuck Marchant - Practice Manager

Chuck is a native Richmonder and proud graduate of RPS and the University of Richmond. He began his work with animals in 1999 as co-founder of FURS and volunteering with Richmond Animal Care and Control. He went on to join that organization as a staff member and served in a variety of management positions before joining the Fan Vet family. He enjoys photography, sitting by the fireplace with a good book, and spending time with his wife Kris, daughter Mackenzie, two tripod rescue cats and his canine girlfriend Nori Nilla Bean.
